Wesley Williams Jr. was born June 18, 1933, to the late Hester Williams, Sr. and Essie Middleton Williams in Beaufort County, South Carolina. He was raised in Walterboro, South Carolina, where he attended public school and later graduated and proudly joined the United States Army. He was honorably discharged on December 8, 1955, and continued his service by serving in the United States Army Reserve for twelve additional years. On March 17, 1963, he entered into marriage with Margaret N. Sigler, and on July 8, 1969, he was united in holy matrimony with his beloved wife, Linda Williams. From these unions, three children were born. A man of strong work ethic, integrity, and dedication, Wesley began his career in the early 1970s as a television and electrical repairman, becoming affectionately known throughout Jasper County as the “community TV repairman.” In 1959, he began employment with Union Camp Company, where he faithfully served for 37 years at every level and retired as a Class 1 Senior Electrical Engineer. After retirement, he continued working with his family business, Grammy Winner’s Daycare and New Look, Inc., in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Never one to sit idle, he later joined the Jasper County Recycling Center in 2006 and retired again in 2018.

Key takeaways
  • Faithful church member: Active in St. Matthew Baptist Church and Mt. Valley Baptist Church, served as a trustee.
  • Devoted family man: Loving husband, father, grandfather, and great‑grandfather who cherished his family deeply.
  • Longtime public servant and worker: Retired as Class 1 Senior Electrical Engineer; later worked at family businesses and recycling center.
  • Veteran and legacy: Proud U.S. Army veteran; passed at 92, funeral held at Saint Matthew Baptist Church.

Wesley accepted the Lord as his Savior at St. Steven A.M.E. Church in Hardeeville, South Carolina, and later joined St. Matthew Baptist Church. He later became a faithful member of Mt. Valley Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee for several years. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished his family deeply. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 65 years, Margaret V. Williams; Two sons, Darryl J. Williams of New York, NY, and Dakia D. Williams, and one daughter, Davida M. Williams, both of Ridgeland, SC; Ten grandchildren: Robert, Romaurie, Ra’Kayla, Ja’lyl, Ja’Lala, Andrei, Kalusha, Lovell, and Jodi; A son-in-love, Jarod Brown; A daughter-in-love, Marcia Williams; Two goddaughters, Lavanca Renee Mitchell and Octavia Drayton; A brother, former Magistrate The Honorable Eugene Williams, and his sister-in-love, Odell Williams; And a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who loved him deeply.

Today, we stand in loving remembrance of a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud U.S. Army veteran whose life was a reflection of strength, faith, service, and unwavering love. At the remarkable age of 92, Wesley leaves behind a legacy that will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

Wesley Williams, 92, of Ridgeland, SC, and a lifelong resident of the Wagon Branch community, peacefully passed away on November 27, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 4 at 10:30 AM location Saint Matthew Baptist Church in Wagon Branch.

Legacy Funeral Home is honored to serve the Williams family during this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Fisher House – Charleston in Wesley’s memory
