Glow & Grow: Black Beauty, Haircare, and Skincare Tips

    Key takeaways
    • Cleanse and condition with Milbon's Volume Collection for persimmon tannins, rice protein, and kaolin clay that boost lift.
    • Use Milbon's Vitalizing Dimension to boost protein density with keratin, chamomile extract, and shea butter for fuller elasticity.
    • Prep damp hair with Monochromatic Froth Blowout Foam, then spritz Volume Thickening Mist 4 for buildable, long-lasting volume.
    • Blow dry with a round brush, lift at the roots, flip hair upside down, and dry sections opposite their natural fall for maximum lift.
    • Finish with a pea-sized amount of Monochromatic Puff Finishing Paste, working roots through ends for lightweight, buildable, touchable body.

Whether your hair is fine, flat, or just needs a little extra lift, using the right products can make all the difference. To get the most out of your volume care at home, follow these steps for a full-bodied finish that still feels natural and effortless.

Step 1: Cleanse and Condition with Milbon

Volume care starts in the shower. Choose from two great Milbon collections, Volume and Vitalizing Dimension, to add more body and bounce in your haircare routine.

The Volume Collection is infused with persimmon tannins. It strengthens the cuticle, providing a natural lift and bounce to the hair. Start by cleansing with Milbon’s Volumizing Shampoo to gently remove buildup while leaving the hair with a light, fuller structure. Follow with Milbon’s Volumizing Treatment focusing on your mid-lengths to ends for weightless hydration. The strength-reinforcing persimmon tannins are blended with rice protein and kaolin clay that maintain body and bounce.

The Vitalizing Dimension Collection increases the protein density of each strand through a combination of keratin and chamomile extract, leading to greater hair elasticity. Cleanse first with Milbon’s Vitalizing Dimension Shampoo, infused with purple coneflower extract to boost elasticity and restore the hair’s vigor. Follow with Milbon’s Vitalizing Dimension Treatment for extra body, infused with shea butter to reinforce the hair’s inner strength and flexibility. By repairing your hair’s elasticity, it will hold its structure better, leading to fuller-looking hair with natural body and bounce.

Step 2: Prep the Hair for Volume Control

After gently towel-drying, layer in your styling products to accentuate fuller-looking hair.

Prep the hair first with the Monochromatic Froth Blowout Foam. Apply the foam evenly through damp hair from roots to ends to create soft body, tame flyaways, and protect the hair up to 450º.

Next, apply Milbon’s Volume Thickening Mist 4. This targeted mist, infused with honey and panthenol to enhance shine, adds elasticity to each strand, creating buildable volume for a long-lasting, voluminous finish.

Step 3: Techniques to Blow Dry for Lift

How you blow dry will also control volume. Using a round brush, lift the hair upward to direct airflow at the roots, creating lift. Remember to also flip your hair upside down and blow dry from underneath. Focus on blow drying sections in the opposite direction of your hair’s natural fall to encourage lift and movement.

Step 4: Finish Your Look With Touchable Body

To complete the look, take a pea-sized amount of Monochromatic Puff Finishing Paste and gently work it into the areas where you want to add more body and lift, anywhere from the roots through ends. Puff Finishing Paste is lightweight and buildable, so you can add more wherever needed to achieve your final voluminous look.
