Glow & Grow: Black Beauty, Haircare, and Skincare Tips

Key takeaways
  • COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence restores moisture, balances dry skin, and supports an pro-aging gracefully routine.
  • An Elevated Everyday Jumpsuit is easy, comfortable, and instantly styled with shoes or accessories, perfect for women over 40.
  • A weighted vest increases walking intensity without new skills, a simple way to keep active and feel supported over 40.

I love my LED light therapy mask, and I try to use it at least twice a week. I make sure to bring it down onto my neck as well, because that’s an area I’m paying more attention to now.

Using it consistently just makes me feel like I’m actually doing something to take care of my skin. Not trying to reverse everything overnight, but just slowing things down and being intentional about it. I’ve definitely started thinking more about things like jowls, and this—along with my serums—has made me feel a lot better about taking a more “pro-aging gracefully” approach. I may have started later than I wanted to, but I’m here now, and I’m good with that.

This is the LED mask I’ve been using.

My snail mucin has made a real difference in how hydrated my skin feels. I can actually tell when I’ve been using it consistently versus when I haven’t.

I’ve noticed that after using my LED mask, my skin can sometimes feel a little dry, but this brings it right back to life. It adds that layer of moisture that just makes everything feel balanced again. Living in a drier climate here in Denver will definitely dry your skin out, so adding this into both my morning and evening routine has been a game changer for me. I’m seeing less dryness and my skin just feels more hydrated overall. I’ve been using the COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, and it’s one I keep going back to.

🖤 The Elevated Everyday Jumpsuit

I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t want to overthink outfits.

I want something I can put on and feel comfortable in, but still look like I made an effort. And a good jumpsuit does exactly that. You can wear it casually, just running around, and then switch it up with a better shoe, a bag, maybe some sunglasses, and now it looks styled. That kind of easy is what I’m always looking for.

I love this jumpsuit. I started with the green one, but once I got it in black, I really started to see its full potential.

This is not just a lounge-around-the-house piece. You can absolutely dress this up. Throw on some espadrille sandals, a cute bag, maybe even a hat, and now you’ve got a full summer outfit. That’s what I love about it. It’s easy, it’s comfortable, but it still looks put together. Honestly, I can see this being one of those “it” pieces for spring and summer, especially for women over 40 who want something simple that still feels stylish. And I’m not even going to lie—I’m glad I have one for home and another one for stepping out.

This is the jumpsuit I’ve been wearing.

This might not be the typical Mother’s Day gift, but I actually think it makes a lot of sense.

I’m all about doing what I can to stay active without making it complicated. And something like a weighted vest fits right into that. You don’t have to learn anything new. You don’t have to change your whole routine. You just add it to what you’re already doing. And for me, that’s the kind of support I appreciate.

Walking is one of the easiest ways for me to get some exercise in, so it’s what I go back to most often.

Adding a weighted vest takes it up a notch. It really gets my heart pumping, so even when it feels like a light workout, I know my body is actually working harder than just a regular stroll. And that’s exactly what I need. Working out over 40 doesn’t have to mean going all out every time or trying to wear yourself down. Sometimes it’s just about making small changes that actually make a difference.

This is the weighted vest I’ve been using.

🌿 A Few Things I Don’t Have Yet… But Definitely Want

💨 Hair Steamer

This has been on my mind for a minute. Anything that helps with moisture, especially for natural hair, is worth paying attention to. And from what I’ve seen, steaming just helps everything work better. Your conditioner doesn’t just sit there. It actually gets into your hair, and that’s the goal.

My sister has actually been on the hunt for one too, so it’s definitely been on our radar. We both keep coming back to the one from Pattern, and it’s at the top of our list. If not for Mother’s Day, this might end up being one of those gifts we just go ahead and get for ourselves later on… maybe for Christmas. Fingers crossed.

This is the one we’ve been looking at.
