Style Spotlight: Looks, Trends & Fashion Inspiration

Key takeaways
  • Showcases a wide range of design perspectives, from bold and layered to minimal and refined.
  • Since launching in 2016, Art By Design expanded to about 28 vignettes and featured local boutiques like Whitney Winkler Art Studio and Paradox at Peco.
  • Ticketed events and weeklong programming create a full experience, raising nearly $1 million for ARTSMemphis to support local artists.
  • Abundant color, texture, textiles, and original art provided constant visual inspiration throughout the showroom.
  • Attending multiple events left the author inspired daily; the show keeps improving and promises even more at the next edition.

Art by Design is easily one of my favorite events to attend every year. While I’m not an interior designer, I love the creativity and skill that comes with interior design, and I always leave feeling inspired by the way each vignette is curated and brought to life. There’s something about the gallery-style showroom setting that makes it all feel immersive, and the vignettes seem to get more creative and expansive every time.

Interior design trends can sometimes feel homogenous, so I really appreciate the range of design perspectives on display during Art By Design. No matter your personal style, there’s always something that resonates; whether it’s bold and layered or minimal and refined, there are so many different aesthetics to take in.

Since launching in 2016, Art by Design has grown in such a meaningful way. This year featured around 28 vignettes, along with artists showcasing work that was available to view and purchase throughout the showroom as well. A few local boutiques like Whitney Winkler Art Studio and Paradox at Peco also joined in, adding another cool layer of creativity to the experience.

When you add in the ticketed events and programming that also happens throughout the week, it truly becomes so more than just an exhibition: it’s a full-on experience. Plus, Art By Design has raised nearly $1 million in support of ARTSMemphis and its grant-making for local artists and arts organizations over the years, so you’re truly experiencing design for a good cause.

There was so much fun color, texture, textiles and art to take in this year, so I’m sharing a few of my favorite moments from some of the different spaces below.
