(NEXSTAR) — A new Consumer Reports study has found elevated levels of lead in one dozen brands of cinnamon powders and multi-spice blends. The nonprofit, which evaluates the safety of various goods and services, purchased the cinnamon products from 17 stores in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York and online. Twelve of the 36 products tested by Consumer Reports had lead levels exceeding 1 part per million. That concentration is high enough to trigger a recall in New York, the only U.S. state that regulates heavy metals in spices, according to the nonprofit. NEW YORK (AP) — Caroline Ellison, a former top executive in Sam Bankman-Fried ’s fallen FTX cryptocurrency empire, faces the possibility of years in prison when she is sentenced Tuesday for fraud, but prosecutors said she deserves leniency for her “extraordinary cooperation” as they investigated the company. There are 203 registered sex offenders living in Liberty County as of August, according to the Georgia Sex Offenders Registry.The Registry shows that seven of these sex offenders are sexual predators.
