From Hollywood to Home: Black Voices in Entertainment

Key takeaways
  • Viral breakout with Bunna Summa turned social buzz into major projects and high-profile features for BunnaB.
  • Colorful, witty rhymes and singsong delivery create raunchy, twerk-inducing tracks that cement BunnaB as an Atlanta original.
  • BunnaB is intentional in the studio, evolving toward a debut album with deeper narratives while vowing to uplift her family and community.

BunnaB is somewhere on the road, wrapping up a quick cross-country tour supporting YFN Lucci, as she joins our early afternoon Zoom call. Although she is not visible, a bright smile is evident in the enthusiastic tone of her voice, eager to discuss everything that brought her to this moment — and everything she’s plotting next. That same ear-to-ear grin has captured a growing audience as the Gen-Z rapper parlays digital trends into real-life success, and this is only the beginning.

Born Ereunna McCoy, BunnaB captures the spirit of Atlanta through colorful, witty rhymes and catchy adlibs, boosted by her vibrant delivery. Coming from a family with 10 siblings and as the second-oldest in her generation, she understands the power of individuality and the importance of collective creativity, and is driven by a determination to “make sure that everybody under me is straight,” as she aptly puts it.

After beginning her rap career in 2020, she had her big break five years later with the viral “Bunna Summa,” a playful song that commands reposado shots and ass throwing, released on the heels of her first official project, Ice Cream Summer.

“I didn’t think it would get that type of attention,” she reflects on the anthem. “I was really shocked because it’s like a song… I won’t say I wasn’t interested in that song… I did it on live, and I didn’t finish it.” She added, “People were asking me for that song, [so], I put it out. When it blew up, I was shocked.”

Riding the momentum of “Bunna Summa,” the rising rap star kept her foot on the gas, crafting a deluxe version of the tape, named after the viral track. The young star continued, dropping off features on albums from Atlanta veteran, Jermaine Dupri, and Grammy-nominated producer Metro Boomin, although she was admittedly “surprised” when she got the calls. She also released the Sweet Lick mixtape before the year ended, solidifying BunnaB as one to watch.

Fresh off a breakout 2025, the Atlanta rapper is leveling up her sound, her story, and the city she reps with pride. Ready to put in the work, BunnaB is intentional when she goes into the studio, thinking about the final product as she puts pen to paper. Beyond the buzzy collaborations where she got to link up with hometown heroes, BunnaB has teamed up with fellow Atlanta newcomer Y.K. Niece on a handful of songs, as well as South Carolina’s latest export, Trim, earlier this year, for her song “Boat Remix,” in which all three appear.

“It feels good to collab with people, especially on songs that you like,” details Bunna, adding, “Most times people think it’s a competition, but when they see multiple of y’all winning, it’s better.”

BunnaB’s charismatic personality and singsong delivery are enough to justify why she lives rent-free in the minds of hating hoes who might want to fight over men. The rapper boasts about throughout several confident tracks. With an arsenal of raunchy, twerk-inducing tracks that echo decades of Atlanta music, she has carved out a lane as bright and unique as her aesthetic.

“It be hard, [but] I be prepared. I write on the outside and have it before I go into [the booth], and then it’s about the delivery. I say that be the hardest part because it’s like, ‘How do you want to say it? How do you want the people to hear this part?’ And then I be thinking, ‘Should I try it like that or should I just do my regular sound?’”

As she enters album mode, she refuses to stagnate, continually pushing herself to evolve toward a debut that is not only relatable but also goes beyond her bubbly demeanor, delving into the mixed emotions and authentic narratives that paint a portrait.

“I just want to say thank you, everybody, for supporting me,” relays BunnaB in a heartfelt and humble message directly to fans. “I can’t wait to give y’all what y’all want.”
