City of Savannah: Official News, Events & Community Updates

SAVANNAH – City of Savannah administrative offices and facilities will be closed Monday, Jan. 19, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Emergency services will remain operational.

Sanitation services will be impacted by the holiday closure. Residents should note the following schedule changes:

  • Residential garbage, yard waste, and recycling: Will not be collected on Monday, Jan. 19. Services will resume Tuesday, Jan. 20, with subsequent routes following a one-day delayed schedule through the week. Recycling on Tuesday will cover Monday’s collection route.
  • Dean Forest Landfill and Bacon Park Transfer Station: Closed Monday, Jan. 19. Dean Forest Landfill reopens Tuesday, Jan. 20; Bacon Park Transfer Station reopens Wednesday, Jan. 21.
  • Street sweeping: No service Monday, Jan. 19. Regular schedule resumes Tuesday, Jan. 20.

Residents are encouraged to consult the annual sanitation schedule packets and take note of collection days for their specific routes. The schedule is available at savannahga.gov/sanitation.

City offices and facilities will reopen for normal business hours on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
