Representative Adriano Espaillat and U.S. Senator Charles Schumer have officially announced that Holcombe Rucker Park, the iconic basketball court in Harlem, has been designated as a national historical site. A commemorative ceremony will take place on September 7th, 2025, at 155th St. 8th Ave, Harlem, celebrating the park’s lasting impact on culture, sports, and community development.
As part of the celebration, Bob McCullough, Commissioner of Rucker Park, President, and leader of the National Association of Each One Teach One, and Freddie Crawford, Chairman Rucker Pro Legends have granted approval to New York City Jewelry Connection (NYCJC) to design a special commemorative piece. The result: an exquisite Sterling Silver 925 Rhodium Plated Pendant, honoring Rucker Park’s rich legacy and its continued influence.
The sale of the pendant will help fund and sponsor various community, including Harlem Week, and youth programs at Rucker Park, ensuring that the spirit of mentorship and athletic excellence thrives for generations to come.
NYCJC will present these exclusive pendants to honored guests at the ceremony, including:
- U.S. Representative Adriano Espaillat
- U.S. Senator Charles Schumer
- Bob McCullough, Cincinnati Royals, NBA, Rucker Park Commissioner
- Freddie Crawford, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers
- Nancy Lieberman, a member of the first women’s Olympic basketball Team, 1976, basketball legend, and trailblazer in women’s sports
- Gail Marquis, member of the first U.S. Women’s Olympic Basketball Team, 1976
- Fat Joe, American Celebrity Rapper, Song writer, and Actor
- Bob Hunter, esteemed member of the Harlem Globetrotters
- George Ball, Commissioner of Each One Teach One at Rucker Park. Mr. Ball’s award will be presented by Christopher Jean, Associate Vice President NBA’s Players Association
