Are you going to be in Atlanta, GA the week of Juneteenth? Looking for something to do? Historically Black WKND is hosting The Yard: An HBCU Tailgate Festival at Morris Brown College on Saturday, June 21st. This event will feature a day filled with music, food, and HBCU pride.

Juneteenth is a federal holiday in the United States. It is celebrated annually on June 19 to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States. The holiday’s name, first used in the 1890s, is a portmanteau of the words “June” and “nineteenth”, referring to June 19, 1865, the day when Major General Gordon Granger ordered the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas at the end of the American Civil War.

A full celebration of Black culture, HBCU pride, and Juneteenth weekend with a yard fest-style tailgate, Greek stroll offs and so much more! It’s giving homecoming vibes in June and it’s an event in the city you wouldn’t want to miss. You and your family get the opportunity to enjoy HBCU panels, a School Daze alumni gym jam, as well as A Different World alumni farewell brunch. Come eat, network, and enjoy the culture. Make sure you purchase your tickets now!
