Betty’s Life Story…

A Time To Be Born

Betty was born on September 28, 1948, to the loving union of Willie and Viola Oliphant Jackson. Raised in Savannah, Georgia, she developed a warm spirit, a vibrant personality, and a lifelong dedication to excellence. She graduated from Sol C. Johnson High School in 1966, where she proudly served as a Majorette, and continued her education at Savannah State University for two years before beginning her professional journey.

A Time To Plant

Throughout her career, Betty served with commitment, professionalism, and grace. Her work included roles as a bank teller at CNS Bank, an administrative clerk at Georgia Power, and a data clerk within the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, where she contributed to the success of several schools, including Hubert Middle, Savannah High, East Broad Elementary, and Robert W. Groves High School. She later worked as a saleswoman at Levy Jewelers and served in the YMCA Afterschool Program, touching lives across every season of her career.

Betty was united in holy matrimony to Earl Perry on April 17, 1981. Together they shared a devoted and faith-filled partnership grounded in mutual love, respect, and spiritual strength.

A Time To Be Reborn

Betty’s commitment to God shaped every part of her life. She faithfully served at several congregations throughout the years, including Historic First Bryan Baptist Church—where she was a Deaconess and Sunday School Teacher—Temple of Glory Community Church, Thankful Missionary Baptist Church—where she served in the Finance Ministry, on the Deaconess Board, and in the Choir—and finally, First Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, where she continued her service in the Music Ministry. Her life was a reflection of her deep faith and willingness to serve wherever she was called.

Betty lived by the scripture, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). She embraced the strength and assurance found in that verse, carrying herself with confidence, steadiness, and an unwavering belief in God’s faithfulness. Her heart was full of courage, love, and wisdom—qualities that touched all who knew her.

A Time To Laugh

Betty enjoyed a full and active life. She adored her beloved fur child, Cocoa, and treasured the many years they spent together. She found joy in shopping, traveling, beautifying her yard and tending to her flowers, and bringing laughter and light into every space she entered. Her presence was gentle yet impactful, graceful yet strong.

A Time To Embrace Eternity

On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Betty peacefully departed from her earthly home and transitioned into her heavenly home. Resting securely in God’s presence, she entered eternal peace. Her legacy of faith, kindness, and perseverance will continue to live on in the hearts of those she cherished.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Viola Oliphant Jackson; her brother, Marvin Jackson; her sister, Kate Jackson; her son, Jason L. Parrish; and her beloved fur child, Cocoa.

A Time To Rejoice

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Earl Perry; her brother, Walter (Rita) Jackson of Guyton, GA; sisters-in-law, Judy Jackson of Atlanta, GA, and Rosa Jackson; daughter-in-law, Talecisha Parrish; her grandchildren—Jordyen Jeanty, Avis Rogers, Avery Parrish, and Ayanna Parrish, all of Atlanta, GA; nieces—Jaquita D. Jackson, Shelley Jackson, and Cassie Jackson; nephew—Jermaine D. Jackson; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, relatives, and close friends who loved her deeply.

Public Viewing will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Campbell and Sons Funeral Home, 2520 Bonaventure Road, Savannah, GA 31404.

Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 1:00pm at Greenwich Cemetery, 330 Bonaventure Road, Savannah, GA 31404.

***The Family will be receiving guests on Saturday, November 22, 2025 and Sunday, November 23, 2025 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at 12 Ole Oak Road, Savannah, GA 31410.***
