Glow & Grow: Black Beauty, Haircare, and Skincare Tips

Key takeaways
  • Natural hair trends in 2025 focus on embracing bigger volume with twist-outs and stretched afros for a fuller look.
  • Protective styles are evolving with unexpected colors and accessories, allowing for personal flair in classic looks.
  • Bold colors like deep reds and pastels are trending, with semi-permanent dyes for creative experimentation without commitment.
  • Scalp health is crucial, emphasizing massages and exfoliating scrubs for optimal hair growth and maintaining curl health.
  • New haircuts enhance curl patterns, with styles like shag cuts and curly bangs being popular among Black women.

2025 might be almost over, but there is a real buzz around natural hair even if you don’t see it in you day to day outings.  We love natural hair over here and nurturing it is our passion and I’ve compiled a list of the amazing trends that are being seen and copied this year for natural hair trends 2025.

Spring Natural Hair Color Trends 2019

Come sit down and discover the top 2025 natural hair trends for Black women, from protective styles to bold color statements, and tips to keep your curls healthy and thriving.

In 2025, natural hair is getting even more unapologetic. Full-bodied twist-outs, stretched afros, and blowout styles are trending on social media and runways but we only are about what we see outside this summer and fall.   Black women are embracing our hair’s natural density while using lightweight, curl-defining creams to maintain shape and movement and even frizz!

Consider using a volumizing pick and light oils like jojoba or argan to keep hair fluffy without weighing it down and I meant what I said about frizz.  Not everyone is into definition so don’t feel like you MUST define very strand on your pretty little head.

Classic protective styles like box braids, faux locs, and knotless braids are getting an upgrade with unexpected pops of color, mixed textures, and accessories like gold cuffs and high buns.  Adding some change to a trusted protective style is always a great way to steer clear of boredom if you love variety.

Having fun and variety with protective styles is possible with some creativity.  Don’t know how to change it up? Watch a few videos for ideas and never forget adding your own flair makes it uniquely yours!

From deep wine reds to pastel lilacs, bold hair color is taking center stage. Semi-permanent dyes and temporary sprays allow for experimenting without long-term commitment along with adding colorful braids.  No need to steer clear of vibrant colors either.  Always ensure the color choices won’t cause waves at work but make sure to test the boundaries with varying choices on the color wheel.

Always pre-treat with a protein mask before coloring to protect curl integrity and the health of your natural strands because natural hair trends 2025 is all about health too.

Scalp Health is the New Hair Care Trend

A healthy scalp equals healthy hair growth. In 2025, natural hair care routines are focusing heavily on scalp massages, exfoliating scrubs, and lightweight serums infused with rosemary or peppermint oil.

Check out these two homemade scrubs to try if you don’t want OTC ones.

Easy Brown Sugar Scrub
¼ c. Olive Oil
¼ c. Brown Sugar

Curly Girl Scrub
2-4 Tbsp Brown Sugar or Uncooked Quinoa
1-2 Tbsp Conditioner

How to Use

Exfoliate before before conditioning and just apply the scrub to your scalp and massage for as long as necessary. If you have a lot of product build-up or flakiness, you may find that you’ll need to massage for a longer period of time.

Curl-Enhancing Haircuts

Shag cuts, layered afros, and curly bangs are redefining natural hair shapes. Stylists are creating shapes that enhance curl patterns and frame the face beautifully.  While you can do your own trims if you feel confident enough, curly cut should stay with the professionals, ESPECIALLY if you want newer styles.

Ask your stylist for a “dry cut” to see how curls naturally fall before trimming and if they cannot it might be a good idea to go to another stylist.  Another tip, if your stylist can only cut your hair when straight but you mostly wear your hair when curly, you may need to try another stylist for a cut.

Home Hair Care Tricks & Tips Since things are Getting Expensive!

natural hair trends 2025 is about self-expression, versatility, and celebrating the beauty of natural hair. Whether you’re rocking a bold color, a sky-high afro, or knotless braids, the key is to choose styles that make you feel confident and free.

Share your favorite 2025 natural hair look on social media and tag #NaturalHair2025 so we can see your crown shine.
