Never Too Late for Love: George & Ann’s Story at Summerset

Aging Well: News & Insights for Seniors and Caregivers

Neither Ann nor George ever imagined their paths would cross at this stage in life. But sometimes it only takes a simple moment to change everything.
For them, it was dessert in the dining room. George noticed Ann enjoying her ice cream and asked if he could join her. That one small choice sparked a connection that felt instant, as if they had already known each other all along.

They quickly discovered how much they had in common. Both were the same age, both retired, and both raised daughters. That shared ground gave them an easy understanding of one another, but it was the kindness, warmth, and laughter that sealed the bond.
Since then, their days at Summerset have been filled with simple joys. Mornings often begin with their own activities, then they come together for lunch and spend the afternoons side by side. They love watching the birds in the Living room at Summerset and smile as they say, “we’re lovebirds too.” They enjoy crafts together and little adventures like Apple Hill, but what they treasure most are the everyday routines that feel brighter because they are shared.
For George, who lost his wife two years ago, companionship means everything. “It gives me more purpose. I wake up thinking about her and look forward to our meals together,” he shared. Ann adds with a smile, “He makes my days brighter.”
Their advice to others is simple: “If a spark begins, go for it. Don’t deny it. It is wonderful to have companionship.”
At Summerset, George and Ann found more than just a place to live. They found each other. Their story is a reminder that it is never too late for love, friendship, and connection, and that even the smallest everyday moments can lead to something truly life changing.
