    Key takeaways
    • Savannah Golf Championship introduces a seersucker jacket as the winner's prize for the tournament's second year.
    • Last year's champion Sam Burns earned the trophy and a $99,000 first-place prize from the $550,000 purse.
    • Organizers encourage fans to wear seersucker on championship Sunday at Deer Creek Golf Club-Landings Club to create a Southern-style atmosphere.

The Masters has the green jacket. The RBC Heritage has the tartan jacket. The Memorial Tournament has a grey jacket.

Now the Web.com Tour event in Savannah, Ga., has a jacket to give to their winner. For the second year of the tournament, organizers of the Savannah Golf Championship decided to introduce a seersucker jacket for the winner.

Sam Burns won last year in the inaugural year, and he got a nice trophy to go along with the $99,000 first-place prize from the $550,000 purse. However, the tournament staff wanted more. So they floated the idea of a seersucker jacket for the winner, made from a breathable, fashionable, truly Southern material. They haven’t showed off the look of the jacket yet, but a local tailor will produce it.

The tournament organizers are also encouraging fans attending on championship Sunday to wear seersucker to Deer Creek Golf Club-Landings Club to enjoy the final round. It might feel a little bit like going to the Kentucky Derby or some other major Southern-style event, and that’s an interesting approach to building a homey feel for a burgeoning Web.com Tour event.
