Glow & Grow: Black Beauty, Haircare, and Skincare Tips

    Key takeaways
    • Custom one-of-one engagement rings act as personal heirlooms, exemplified by Skylar Marshai’s ring with jeweler Fie Isolde.
    • Floral, playful engagement looks that reject super bridal norms, like Nyla Durdin’s two-piece co-ord by Tuckernuck.
    • Short, bold hairstyles like Denee’’s pixie cut prioritize individuality over tradition.
    • Monochromatic pink bridal wardrobes embrace ultra-feminine high-fashion whimsy, seen on Mary Adu-Gyamfi.
    • Dramatic, nostalgic bridal references: Zendaya re-wore a Vivienne Westwood gown and stunned in a black and blue Schiaparelli look.

Modern Black Brides are rewriting wedding fashion traditions. From designing one-of-one engagement rings of their dreams to adding a pop of color to their bridal wardrobes, the name of the game is authenticity when it comes to Black bridalhood.

Here are our favorite brides and brides-to-be that are showing us that bridal style is a personal reflection rather than a general discussion as you craft the bridal experience of your dreams.

Skylar Marshai’s Ring Reminds Us That Authenticity is the Greatest Heirloom

For some brides, crafting their engagement ring is a mutual effort between them and their spouse. And for multi-disciplinary storyteller Skylar Marshai and fiancé Temitope Ibisanmi, they went in together on the creation of her one-of-one ring.

Designed with fine jeweler Fie Isolde, this multi-stoned ring brings warmth, uniqueness and high quality while remaining modern, chic and an instant addition to the family heirloom list.

Nyla Durdin Went Florals For Spring At Her Engagement Shoot

TikTok star Nyla Durdin revealed her engagement shoot outfit in a video and the girls went crazy. Donning a two-piece co-ord skirt set by Tuckernuck, Nyla looks fab. Self-proclaiming she didn’t want anything “super bridal” and to feel like herself in her engagement shots, this look was altogether fun, feminine and playful, reminding us that bridal doesn’t have to be boring.

Denee’ Kept It Short & Sweet with Her Pixie Cut

While most brides opt to go long and flowing with their tresses for their big day, Denee’ marched to her own beat and chose the road less traveled. Going short and sassy, her pixie cut made her already stunning wedding day look stand out all the more, remaining true to herself in the realest way.

Mary Adu-Gyamfi Went Monochromatic Pink for Her Bridal Wardrobe

Ever since rapper Monaleo rocked her all pink gown, it seems more and more brides are opting the blushed and bashful route with their wedding day wardrobes. In one of her many looks, Nurse Mary Adu-Gyamfi went monochromatic.

Ultra-feminine, high fashion and chic, this dress design is whimsical and fresh in appeal and aesthetic. Featuring a drop waist and lace, Mary’s pink bridal look is one-of-one and deserves to be on all bridal fashion mood boards for 2026 and beyond.

Zendaya Brought the Drama to Popular Bridal Tropes

While attending her world premieres for her spring film The Drama, actress Zendaya went the bridal trope route when styling her looks for the multi-day events. Starting off with “Something old”, she re-wore her now iconic Vivienne Westwood gown she rocked at the 2015 Oscar’s and for “Something Blue”, she stunned in a vibrant black and blue gown by Schiaparelli. Her take on the bridal trope is

Iyanna McNeely Chose Whimsy Over Trends

Former Love Is Blind contestant and now happy January 2026 bride Iyanna McNeely had our jaws dropped when she dropped her bridal shots this past January.

Donning a fresh, brunette blowout with a sexy and sultry deep side part, Iyanna’s all lace princess gown was adorned with a weather-appropriate fur jacket on top to withstand their wedding’s Chicago chill and add an extra dose of whimsy.
