Style Spotlight: Looks, Trends & Fashion Inspiration

    Key takeaways
    • Medical rename: polycystic ovary syndrome now called PMOS, reflecting broader hormonal and metabolic impacts beyond ovaries.
    • Perfectionism, not laziness, often blocks exercise; experts recommend flexibility and short routines to build consistent habits.
    • Peptides are trending in beauty; potential FDA loosening raises safety and long-term data concerns for injectable "stacks".

    1. CELEBRITY

I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about Hayden Panettiere’s new memoir, so I was eager to read this excerpt published in The Cut! I remember feeling like she was everywhere (remember the show Heroes?) and then just disappeared. In her memoir she writes very candidly about the traumatic birth of her daughter, her postpartum depression, and how alcohol slowly became a coping mechanism while she was filming Nashville. She infamously gave full custody of her daughter to her daughter’s father in 2018, and now nearly 10 years on she’s reflecting on what led to that.

    2. HEALTH

In women’s health news, PCOS officially has a new name! What was previously called “polycystic ovary syndrome” is now being renamed PMOS: polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome. The change reflects how much broader the condition actually is than doctors originally thought. It’s not just about ovarian cysts or fertility struggles, but a much larger hormonal and metabolic disorder that can affect everything from insulin resistance and heart health to skin and weight regulation! I saw a lot of friends online celebrating this advancement and hoping this pushes treatment to evolve too! Sending lots of love to those of you who have felt misunderstood or dismissed because of your diagnosis!

    3. FASHION

There’s a Paris-based fashion brand with a very eyebrow-raising name suddenly taking over celebrity red carpets: Matières Fécales (yes… literally, lol). The brand has quietly become a favorite among celebrities like Zendaya, Lady Gaga, and Sarah Paulson because the clothes strike this interesting balance between wearable and slightly unsettling! Think beautiful pink tulle gowns, but paired with shredded fabrics and exaggerated proportions. The designers believe that people are craving fashion with actual personality again instead of the same polished “luxury uniform” over and over. An interesting read!

    4. FITNESS

This article makes a strong case that the biggest thing holding people back from exercising isn’t laziness – it’s perfectionism! So many of us fall into this “perfect workout trap” where if we can’t do the exact workout we planned (a full class, a long run, the ideal gym session), we end up doing nothing at all. Experts argue that flexibility is actually way more important than discipline when it comes to building long-term habits. A 15-minute walk, stretching while watching TV, a quick workout at home — it all still counts! Consistency over time matters far more than any single “perfect” workout…frankly a good reminder for me!

    5. BEAUTY

Peptides are quickly becoming the next big wellness and beauty obsession, and apparently the FDA may soon loosen restrictions on some injectable versions that have been living in a legal gray area for years. If you’ve seen people talking about “stacks,” recovery peptides, or anti-aging injections on TikTok lately…this is probably what they’re referring to! The tricky part is that while peptides sound very science-backed (and some absolutely are), many of the buzzy ones circulating online don’t actually have strong long-term safety data behind them yet! This all feels very reflective of where wellness culture is right now – all about optimization, but also moving much faster than regulation or research can realistically keep up with.

    6. MOVIES

Cannes Film Festival season is officially here, which basically means the next wave of buzzy Oscar contenders and internet-obsessed indie films are about to be born! This year’s lineup sounds especially strong if you love slightly artsy, fashion-adjacent cinema. There’s a Richard Avedon (legendary photographer) documentary directed by Ron Howard, plus a new drama starring Riley Keough and Barry Keoghan. You probably recognize actor and comedian Jordan Firstman from HBO’s I Love LA, but he wrote, directed, and stars in Club Kid, about a New York club promoter who discovers he has a 10-year-old son, which is also premiering! Lots to look forward to!
