Welcome to the latest edition of the Giant Bomb Community Spotlight! I, @zombiepie, am once again honored to be your host as we look back at the site and staff-related news and best community creations!

This week provided the staff with some much-needed R&R after they absolutely killed it during Not-E3 2025! Now, I know during some of the livestreams that Giant Bomb aired during this time many people experienced audio issues and buffering. While I have included the whole unedited versions of the night streams, Jan and company recommend you find the slightly edited segmented videos on YouTube of Giant Bomb @ Nite as they are likely to be slightly better listening experiences. Regardless, here’s everything Giant Bomb aired during that highly eventful weekend to make everyone’s life a little bit easier.

In other news, don’t forget that THERE’S STILL NEW GIANT BOMB MERCH TO BUY IN THE STORE! The new merchandise this week includes four new shirt designs as well as a tote bag! NickToilet over on Bsky ever posted a timelapse of them making the Spoon Heaven shirt design.

Well, jearum was certainly busy this week. I honestly don’t know where to start whether it be their nostalgia tingling imaginations of the staff being on a classic LucasArts code wheel or Jan as a unit in Final Fantasy Tactics. Then you have the rejected shirt design they found from years ago as well as them continuing their tradition of designing the Giant Bomb staff as characters in Peanuts with their very family-friendly hat.

Why did this Game Fest feel so bad?

Moderator Gamer152’s deep examination of Not-E3 2025 continues with a blog about Geoff Keighley’s marquee event, Summer Game Fest! With this blog they try to get to the bottom of a key question others have been wondering about: Why did this edition of SGF feel so off? They also wrote about what they thought of Sony’s June 2025 State of Play and why it gave them moderate confidence about the future of Sony.

How/Why Did Nu Metal Become Our Generation’s Disco/Glam Rock/Hair Metal (i.e., Our Go-To Genre We All Agree Is “Bad?”) (By: @zombiepie)

It is time to talk about a recurring punchline in games and music: nu-metal. In this blog I wonder when we all decided to use nu-metal as a venerable target as a genre we collectively agreed was “bad” and if that is all fair to the nu-metal artists that graced the genre and its fans.
