Glow & Grow: Black Beauty, Haircare, and Skincare Tips

    Key takeaways
    • Prep used Milbon Monochromatic Froth Blowout Foam, Dyson dryer, and ATO No. 4 round brush to create a smooth blowout base.
    • Anh Co Tran added a two-prong 26-inch clip-in extension (shade 1B), left front sections out, and smoothed with a boar bristle brush.
    • Installed and straightened a 22-inch wrap ponytail extension from The Hair Shop, pinned it securely, and polished with Smooth Luminous Bodifying Oil.
    • Defined Hime-inspired front pieces, cut blunt on a diagonal, then layered Flex Memory Hold Hairspray 7 and Firm Hold Shielding Hairspray 10.

For the Dior Cruise 2027 Show, Ejae wore a sleek interpretation of a Hime-inspired ponytail. The look paired a high, sculptural ponytail with sharp face-framing details, creating a style that felt polished and modern. Here’s how Anh Co Tran created Ejae’s look for the event.

    Step 1: Prep

Anh began by applying a generous palmful of Milbon&’s Monochromatic Froth Blowout Foam throughout Ejae’s hair to create body, control frizz, and establish long-lasting hold.

Using the Dyson dryer with concentrator nozzle and an ATO No. 4 round brush, he created a smooth blowout for the base of her style.

    Step 2: Creating the Ponytail

Anh first installed a two-prong, 26-inch clip-in extension in the shade 1B at the bottom section of her hair. He positioned it facing upward so that it’d run in the same direction as the base of the ponytail. This created additional support for the final ponytail structure while reducing tension on her hair.

Leaving out two front sections for later detailing, Anh gathered the remaining hair upward into a sleek ponytail. Using a boar bristle brush and additional Monochromatic Froth Blowout Foam he carefully directed and smoothed the hair into place.

With the ponytail done, Anh misted her hair with Milbon’s Flex Memory Hold Hairspray 7 to control any flyaways on the surface.

    Step 3: Detailing the Ponytail

Next, Anh straightened the ponytail to further accentuate the sleek base. He then prepared to install a 22-inch wrap ponytail extension from The Hair Shop, but first he made sure it was straightened and free of any frizz.

Anh secured the 22-inch extension at the top of the ponytail using a combination of bobby pins and hairpins. Then, he wrapped it around the base of Ejae’s ponytail for a clean finish, controlling any flyaways with the Flex Memory Hold Hairspray 7 as he went and securing it with a bobby pin.

He then refined the ponytail and clip-in extension using Milbon’s Smooth Luminous Bodifying Oil to further enhance shine and smoothness.

Step 4. Defining the Front Pieces

Returning to the front pieces, Anh created the defining Hime-inspired details.

He first misted Milbon’s Flex Memory Hold Hairspray 7 through the sections and then smoothed them with a flat iron. Once smooth, he cut the front pieces blunt on a slight diagonal to create a sharp, Hime-inspired finish.

PRO TIP: Anh frequently reaches for the Hairspray 7 while styling. Milbon’s updated formula offers heat protection up to 450-degrees, making it ideal for layering throughout the styling process to create flexible, workable hold.

    Step 5. Finishing the Look

To seal Ejae’s style in place, Anh layered additional Flex Memory Hold Hairspray 7 throughout the hair to maintain hold.

He then controlled any remaining flyaways using Milbon’s Firm Hold Shielding Hairspray 10 for extra longevity.

    The Final Result

Ejae’s finished look paired the sharp precision of a Hime-inspired silhouette with the sleek movement of a sculptural ponytail. The dramatic length and clean face-framing details created an edgy look that perfectly complemented the fashion-forward atmosphere of the Dior Cruise Show.
