The Las Vegas Aces beat the Seattle Storm, 98-77, on Sunday, Sept. 20. It’s a lost season for the Storm, who clinched the worst record in the WNBA over the weekend, but rookie Flau’jae Johnson has been a bright spot.
Johnson had 29 points, six rebounds, six assists and four steals against the defending champs. She also registered an emphatic block against four-time WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson. After Johnson blocked the shot, Wilson crashed to the ground. As Johnson looked down she realized what she had done. She’d blocked the shot of one of the best players ever, who also happens to be a player she loves.
That’s what she immediately apologized. The video was shared by a Flaujae fanpage on X.

Johnson was asked about the moment after the game and had a priceless reaction to her earlier priceless reaction.

“No, that’s was an I’m sorry because I had some gimme that sh–, but that’s just off some some pure like, you know like gimme that,” a visibly excited Johnson explained as shared by TSN Sports on X. “But I seen who I blocked and I will never disrespect the GOAT. I love A’ja Wilson. Like if ya’ll see this, tag her. I love the Aces. But I would never disrespect her, but I was just like in the moment. I was like oh my god, like I blocked A’ja Wilson.”
If it wasn’t for Olivia Miles, Johnson would probably be the WNBA Rookie of the Year. She’s second among rookies in scoring, rebounding and steals per game. Despite the team’s bad season, there’s plenty to be excited about. Respectfully.
