=Savannah State Update:

Savannah State Universityโ€™s College of Business Administration (COBA) will host its 1st Annual Mid-Year Economic Outlookย onย Tuesday, July 15 at 2:00 p.m.ย in the Howard Jordan Torian Auditorium at SSU. The event will feature a keynote address from Dr. David E. Altig, Executive Vice President and Chief Economic Adviser at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.

This event marks a historic milestone for the University as it is the first time a high-ranking official from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta will deliver an economic forecast from Savannah State Universityโ€”Georgiaโ€™s first public Historically Black College and University (HBCU). The Mid-Year Economic Outlook signals a new chapter in SSUโ€™s leadership in regional economic engagement, data-informed dialogue, and business education.

โ€œThis is not just an eventโ€”itโ€™s a moment in history for our institution and our community,โ€ said SSU President Jermaine Whirl. โ€œTo have one of the nationโ€™s foremost economic experts share insight and analysis on our campus underscores Savannah Stateโ€™s growing role as a hub for economic thought leadership, workforce development, and community empowerment.โ€

Dr. Michael Fronmueller, Dean of the College of Business Administration, echoed that sentiment: โ€œThe Mid-Year Economic Outlook is an extraordinary opportunity for our students, faculty, and local business leaders to connect directly with the economic intelligence that shapes national and regional policy. Dr. Altigโ€™s visit reinforces COBAโ€™s commitment to bridging academic insight with real-world relevance and to helping chart a more informed and inclusive economic future for our region.โ€

Designed to provide meaningful perspectives on national and regional economic trends, the Mid-Year Economic Outlook will bring together business and community leaders, policymakers, students, and residents of the greater Savannah area. The event aims to enhance the regionโ€™s access to economic insights and foster deeper engagement between the Federal Reserve System and Coastal Georgia.

Dr. Altig brings a distinguished career in economic research and leadership. He serves on the executive leadership team for the Atlanta Fedโ€™s economic mobility and resilience strategic priority initiative. He is a fellow and past president of the National Association for Business Economics. Altig also holds advisory and board positions with the Global Interdependence Center, the National Business Economics Issues Council, and the Konstanz Seminar on Monetary Theory and Policy.

This event is complimentary; however, attendees must RSVP to participate. Click hereย to secure your spot now.
