Black Travelers: Explore Culture, Adventure & Connection

Key takeaways
  • Alaska Airlines partners with resorts to offer a free day of skiing when you buy a qualifying flight and present boarding pass plus ID.
  • Some resorts require the free ski day to be used on the same day you arrive, so check location-specific rules.
  • Participating ski areas include Arctic Valley, Bogus Basin, and Steamboat, with additional options in Canada.
  • Alaska has merged with Hawaiian Airlines and members use the joint Atmos Rewards program for ski benefits.
  • Mountain Collective pass offers 2 free days at select resorts, 50% off extra lift tickets, and bonus Atmos rewards through 12/12/2025.

For years, Alaska Airlines has offered a fantastic flight-and-resort package for those who love hitting the slopes, enjoying après-ski activities, or seeking a wintry adventure.

In partnership with participating resorts, the airline offers a free day of skiing with the purchase of a flight. Travelers will just need to present their boarding pass and a matching ID at the ski resort’s ticket office upon arrival. However, a catch for some, the deal will only be honored under certain conditions.

For example, at some locations, you’ll have to go for your free ski day on the same day you land at your resort destination. Options of where you can ski for free include Alaska’s Arctic Valley Ski Area, Idaho’s Bogus Basin, and Colorado’s Steamboat Ski Resort. Some participating properties offer other deals, and there are also location options in Canada.

What Else Is There To Know About Snagging A Ski Trip By Flying With Alaska Airlines?

The airline has officially merged with Hawaiian Airlines, and the two carriers now jointly operate their Atmos Rewards loyalty program. Via the latter, flyers of both airlines can benefit from the carriers’ collaboration with the Mountain Collective. The latter has 27 properties that Atmos members can visit both domestically and internationally, including in Banff, Big Sky, and Jackson Hole — some of the most stunning and best places to ski in North America. In addition to ski sites in the United States and Canada, the resort group also has properties in Chile, France, Japan, New Zealand, and Australia.

The Mountain Collective is currently offering a 2025 – 2026 ski season pass wherein, upon purchase, “Atmos members will receive 5,000 bonus rewards, and elites (Atmos Silver or higher) will receive 10,000 bonus rewards.” However, an Atmos member will only receive one allotment of their 5,000 or 10,000 bonus points regardless of how many Mountain Collective 2025 – 2026 season passes they purchase. The offer is available until December 12, 2025. For adults, the pass provides “two free days of skiing or riding (at participating properties), 50%-off additional lift tickets, and discount options on lodging where available.”

Additionally, Atmos members who purchase the Mountain Collective season pass will receive “the option to purchase additional days at 50% off the window price (with no blackout dates).” If using the reward points gained strategically, travelers just might make their next ski trip even more affordable.
