    City of Savannah: Official News, Events & Community Updates

    SAVANNAH — City of Savannah administrative offices and facilities will close at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31, and remain closed all day Thursday, Jan. 1, in observance of New Year’s Day.

    Some sanitation services will be impacted by the holiday. Residents should note the following schedule changes:

    • Residential garbage collection and yard waste services will not operate on New Year’s Day. Services will resume Friday, Jan. 2.

    • Recycling services will not be impacted.

    • Street cleaning services will not operate on New Year’s Day and will resume Monday, Jan. 5.

    • The Dean Forest Road Landfill and Bacon Park Transfer Station will be closed for drop-offs on Thursday, Jan. 1, and will resume normal operations Friday, Jan. 2.

    The City’s 2026 Sanitation Schedules were distributed to residents between Dec. 15–19. These calendars provide guidance on collection days, holiday service adjustments, and other sanitation-related services. The updated schedule is also available online at www.savannahga.gov/SanitationSchedules.
