City’s Municipal Archives Launches StoryRoots Project to Map Community History
SAVANNAH –The City of Savannah Municipal Archives recently launched StoryRoots: Mapping Savannah’s History, a community-driven project aimed at documenting places of historical significance throughout Savannah, as remembered and shared by our residents.
To contribute to StoryRoots, residents can visit the project website at savannahga.gov/storyroots and use the online form to share a location.
In addition to sharing written details about the location, contributors can also upload their own pictures and other documents related to the location and its place in local history.
From the suggestions collected, the City will build the StoryRoots interactive online map, a living record of the sites, memories, and moments that shaped Savannah. The public’s contributions will also help guide how the City preserves, honors, and shares the rich history that connects us all.
To learn more about the work of the Municipal Archives, please contact Luciana Spracher, Archives & History Officer, via email at Lspracher@savannahga.gov or by phone (912) 663-7075.
