Style Spotlight: Looks, Trends & Fashion Inspiration

    Key takeaways
    • Gentle, hydrating routine: Emphasize cleanser, toner, moisturizer, sunscreen—focus on E.L.F. hydration over harsh drying ingredients.
    • Affordable, vegan, cruelty-free: E.L.F. skincare offers wallet-friendly, ethical options that absorb quickly and feel lightweight.
    • Targeted layering: Use serums like hyaluronic acid and thirst drops, plus occasional exfoliation and Vitamin C for balanced results.

I’ve been a fan of E.L.F. since their $1 days, but over the last few months I’ve REALLY fallen in love with their products, especially their skincare. Earlier this year I got caught up in SkinTok and almost ruined my skin barrier because I was trying out so many products. I’ve always had “tough” skin and could try a lot of things without it getting irritated, but now that I’m in my 40s, a lot of “anti-aging” products have entered the chat, and something that I’ve realized is that many are EXTREMELY drying. I have oily-combination skin, so yes, I want to balance out the oil, but I don’t want skin that’s so stripped of its natural oils that it dries up when I smile.

Trying out all of these different products started to wreck my skin, so I wanted to reset and go back to a super simple, gentle routine with a little bit of exfoliation mixed in. I’ve tried a few gentle cleansers that didn’t really do anything so on a whim I picked up products from E.L.F.’s Holy Hydration! Collection and my skin instantly loved it.

Going back to the basics (cleanser, toner, moisturizer, sunscreen) has done wonders for my skin. You don’t necessarily have to use products from the same line, but my skin drank it all up in the best way. Their skincare products are vegan and cruelty free while also being very affordable. Your skin NEEDS hydration, and while “drying” out my skin when I was younger made sense and worked, now I can’t risk it in hopes of getting clearer skin. It just doesn’t bounce back the same. Now, I do still exfoliate 2x-3x a week, but for the most part, it’s all about hydration, hydration, hydration. I don’t skin flood, but I do layer.

I’ve slowly added in a Vitamin C serum as well that I alternate with some salicylic acid pads on days I wear a lot of makeup, but I focus daily on cleansing and toning, and then I mix in 2 of their “serums ( a hyaluronic acid and their thirst drops) before topping with a moisturizer and eye cream (I add sunscreen during the day as well). Their products absorb quickly and aren’t heavy at all, so your skin feels supple and refreshed.

There are some things I’ll forever work on (I HATE my large pores on my cheeks and dark circles), but overall, my skin is the best it’s ever been.
