Five SCCPSS Elementary Schools Earn Top Marks in U.S. News Rankings

Several Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools are earning statewide recognition in the 2027 U.S. News Best Elementary and Middle Schools rankings, highlighting strong outcomes for students across SCCPSS.

Savannah Classical Academy earned recognition across multiple categories, ranking #1 among Savannah-Chatham County elementary schools and #2 among Savannah-Chatham County middle schools. The school also ranked #1 among Georgia charter elementary schools, #4 among Georgia charter middle schools, and #37 statewide in both the elementary and middle school rankings.

“This recognition is something our entire SCCPSS community can celebrate,” said Dr. Denise Watts, Superintendent of Schools. “These rankings reflect the dedication of our students and the educators, leaders, staff and families who support them every day. We are proud to see the outstanding work happening in our schools recognized across Georgia.”

Four additional SCCPSS schools were recognized among Georgia’s top elementary schools:

    • Marshpoint Elementary School — #141
    • Esther F. Garrison School for the Arts — #172
    • May Howard Elementary School — #205
    • Jacob G. Smith Elementary School — #270

Savannah Classical’s recognition extended to the middle grades as well. The school ranked #37 among Georgia middle schools, #2 among middle schools in Chatham County, and #4 among Georgia charter middle schools.

The rankings add another chapter to a growing list of accomplishments across SCCPSS and reflect the work happening each day in classrooms throughout the District.

Congratulations to the students, educators, staff, leaders, and families at each of these schools whose commitment to learning continues to put SCCPSS excellence on the map.
