HealthChoice Center of Peachtree City is using cutting-edge treatment like Cold Laser therapy, SoftWave therapy and TPI certified assessment to treat sports injuries in local athletes, from student-athletes to pickleball and golf players.

When it comes to sports injuries, Dr. Noah Marchese, owner of HealthChoice Center, has seen it all. HealthChoice Center offers therapies to target specific injuries and get them back on the field.

“Especially with the high school kids, their injuries, we see a lot of football players and baseball players with sprains and strains of elbows, shoulders, knees,” Marchese said.

After a full evaluation and assessment, the specialists at HealthChoice Center can determine the best therapy for those injuries. Cold laser therapy and soft wave therapy get student-athletes back on the field faster than with normal physical therapy.

Peachtree City boasts five sprawling golf courses, prompting both the influx of golf carts and golf-related injuries. With his TPI certification (Titleist Performance Institute), Marchese evaluates the relationship between a golf player and their swing.

“Depending on your disabilities or muscle pain or just old injuries, I can help reassess the golf swing and see which muscles are weak and tight and which muscles you need to work on in order to improve your golf game,” Marchese said.

Another sport that is quickly gaining popularity with older adults is pickleball. While the sport offers a great low-impact exercise for older adults, it’s not uncommon for Marchese to see lower body injuries like calf and ankle strains, Achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciitis.

“Actually, pickleball is the number one sport right now for most injured adults,” Marchese said.

Part of the problem is that players might skip their warm-up stretches. Injuries are more likely when older adults aren’t conditioning their bodies for the weekend workout. The best prevention practice, Marchese said, is making sure to stretch before, especially the legs.

“As we get older, our ligaments don’t hold, we just kind of break down a little bit,” Marchese said.

After a full exam, Marchese said they focus on the problem area. For injuries like tendonitis and fasciitis, they show patients stretches and use cutting-edge SoftWave therapy to stimulate healing of soft tissue.

“Using SoftWave [therapy] to help stimulate stem cells, we’re able to heal those injuries a lot quicker,” Marchese said.

At the end of the day, patients have to do their part. By continuing at-home physical therapy and joint pain therapy, many patients can cut their recovery time in half.

“I always say 70% of the work is done at home,” Marchese said.

HealthChoice Center works closely with local physical therapists and orthopedics to ensure each patient receives well-rounded care.
