Born with a servant’s heart and a warrior’s spirit, he answered the call to serve his nation at a young age. Across more than two decades of honorable military service, he distinguished himself as a leader marked by integrity, compassion, and excellence. Beginning his career as a Supply Specialist, he progressed faithfully through the ranks, mastering logistics and administrative operations. His steadfast dedication led him to serve over 15 years in supply management and more than 12 years in administrative leadership.
His service included deployment during the Vietnam War era, where he demonstrated extraordinary bravery. For wounds received in combat, he was awarded the Purple Heart—an enduring testament to his sacrifice. His valor, commitment, and discipline were further recognized through numerous honors, including the Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation with Palm, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Army Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), along with many other commendations reflecting a life of honor and service.
Dedicated to professional growth, Pastor Williams completed several advanced military education courses, including the Supply NCO Advanced Course, Division Logistics Systems Course, Warrant Officer Entry Course, and NCO Logistics Program. He poured into younger soldiers, mentored leaders coming behind him, and ensured every mission was fulfilled with precision and care.
Following the leading of the Holy Spirit, he later embraced his call into ministry and was elected as Pastor of Greater Works Community Church in Midway, Georgia, where he served faithfully until his retirement in 2024. Yet his ministry extended far beyond the pulpit. He labored
wherever there was a need—teaching Sunday School, serving as Sunday School Superintendent, and contributing through Hospitality Ministry, Nursing Home Ministry, Prison Ministry, Men’s Ministry, and Hospital Ministry. Prior to founding GWCC, he served faithfully as an Elder at Live
Oak Church of God, where he and Mother Williams devoted themselves fully to the work of the Lord.
Pastor and Mother Williams were a true Kingdom team. Even in times of sickness, their faith did not waver. Together they witnessed miracles, encouraged others, and remained steadfast examples of trust in God.
Pastor Williams was united in holy matrimony to the late Mother Margaret Williams, his beloved wife of over 50 years. She preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory his adopted sons, Andrew Williams and David Williams of Hinesville, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. John Williams Sr. and Mrs. Virginia Williams, as well as his wife’s son, Eugene Sr., who preceded Mother Williams in death.
He is survived by two grandchildren, Chasity and Eugene Jr., and one precious great-granddaughter, Parker.
As the eldest of his siblings, Pastor Williams stood as a pillar of strength, support, and wisdom. His generosity and gentle spirit touched countless lives. He is survived by his sister, Yolander Williams Carter Jackson (Leo Jackson) of New Orleans, LA. He was preceded in death by his
brothers Anthony Williams and Gabriel Williams. He also leaves behind in-laws, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many spiritual sons and daughters. His influence was wide, deep, and enduring—the seeds he planted will continue to bear fruit for generations. He will forever be remembered as a hero to his country, a pillar within his family, and a man whose life radiated service, sacrifice, humility, and love. His legacy lives on in the hearts he touched and through the values he instilled.
Though we mourn his earthly absence, we take comfort in the promise of Scripture:
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” — Psalm 116:15
