Savannah Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) Update:

Key takeaways

  • Applicants must meet statutory qualifications: one year District 2 residency, 21+, US citizen, high school diploma, no felony, not employed by educational agencies.
  • Public interviews scheduled April 7, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at the Whitney Administrative Complex, 2 Laura Avenue, Building G.

Pursuant to applicable Georgia law and Board policy, a vacancy exists on the Savannah‑Chatham County Board of Education for the District 2 seat.

The Savannah‑Chatham County Board of Education is authorized to appoint a qualified individual to fill this vacancy until the next available election for the office.

The Board of Education invites qualified residents of District 2 who meet all statutory eligibility requirements to submit a request for consideration for appointment to fill the unexpired term for District 2.

    • a member of a local board of education, or
    • the local school superintendent, principal, assistant principal, or system‑level administrative staff of the Savannah‑Chatham County Public School System

Failure to meet any of the above requirements shall render an applicant ineligible for appointment.

  • Date: Tuesday, April 7, 2026
  • Time: 11:30 a.m.
  • Location: Whitney Administrative Complex, 2 Laura Avenue, Bldg. G

Following the public interviews, the Board of Education will hold discussion and vote in an open meeting to appoint a qualified individual to fill the District 2 vacancy, as required by Georgia’s Open Meetings Act and state law.
