Savannah Chatham County Public School System (SCCPS) Update:

    Key takeaways
    • Penny Maggioni named First District School Social Worker of the Year for Savannah‑Chatham County Public Schools.
    • Award recognizes leadership, legislative engagement, and commitment to the School Social Work Code of Ethics.
    • District winners advance to compete at the state level for 2026 State School Social Worker of the Year.
    • SCCPSS celebrates and invites the community to congratulate Penny Maggioni.

School Social Workers are recognized annually as School Social Worker of the Year (SSWOTY) in their districts by the School Social Workers Association of Georgia.  District members are recognized for this outstanding achievement because of their leadership at district and state levels, political and legislative engagement, commitment to the Code of Ethics and their contributions to the School Social Work profession.

Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools are in Georgia’s District 1 and SCCPSS Social Worker Penny Maggioni has been recognized as the First District School Social Worker of the Year. As the winner of our district, Ms.Maggioni will now go on to compete at the State level against social workers from the other nine districts in the state to be  recognized as the 2026 State School Social Worker of the Year.

Please join us in congratulating Ms. Penny Maggioni!
