    Tom McKievick says his job is challenging yet entertaining, a good combination for a perspective career.

    Yet when he saw the newspaper ad for the job at Fredericka Manor senior living community in Chula Vista, California, all the way back in 1976, he wasn’t intending to embark on a career.

    Now, 50 years later, the man has finished what the Bureau of Labor Statistics defines as a “lifetime career,” one which saw him never take a single sick day. If he took one week of vacation a year, he’d have clocked in 12,650 times.

    “When I started I wouldn’t think in a million years I’d still be here but I enjoy the residents and the work, and it’s entertaining and it’s challenging, and never boring,” he told Fox 5 San Diego.

    McKievick works as head of security, and on the occasion of his 50th work anniversary, was presented with an award at a party held in his honor.
