An 11-year-old boy, identified as Kylen Mikai Baldwin, has died from severe injuries sustained in a hit-and-run crash while riding an electric scooter in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

According to reports, the incident occurred along East Sprague Street, where Kylen was struck by a vehicle. The child suffered serious injuries and later died as a result of those injuries.

Authorities have taken Zelestino Fajardo into custody in connection with the crash. The case has drawn attention to the devastating consequences of hit-and-run incidents, particularly when children are involved.

The crash happened on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at approximately 8:19 p.m., near Vargrave Street and Mock Street. Investigators said the driver struck Kylen and his scooter before leaving the scene.

Following the investigation, police located a 2014 Lexus and identified the driver as Fajardo Afmari Zelestino, 31. She was arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run, driving while her license was revoked, and failing to report an accident. Reports indicate that bond was set at $25,000.
