5/18/2026 – Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT) is offering zero-fare transportation on Tuesday, May 19, in support of its “CAT to the Polls” initiative.
“Providing zero-fare service on Election Day reflects our commitment to ensuring every resident can access the ballot box,” said Detric Leggett, Chairman of the CAT Board of Directors. “Reliable transportation should never be a barrier to civic participation.”
Zero-fare service will be available on all CAT Fixed-Route and Paratransit services from 5:00 a.m. to 10:15 p.m., helping connect voters to nearby polling locations throughout area.
“This initiative is about meeting people where they are and making it easier to take part in the democratic process,” said Stephanie Cutter, CAT’s Executive Director/CEO. “By removing the cost of transit, we’re helping create a more accessible Election Day for everyone.”
