Savannah Chatham County Public School System (SCCPS) Update:
- Public hearings: July 8, 2026 (11:00 AM and 6:00 PM) and July 15, 2026 (6:00 PM) at Jessie Collier DeLoach Board Room (Whitney Administrative Complex, Savannah).
- Tentative millage rate: 17.331 mills, an increase of 0.282 mills; without increase rate would be no more than 17.049 mills.
- Estimated increase for a $250,000 home: approximately $27.64 (homestead) and $28.20 (non-homestead).
The Board of Public Education for the City of Savannah and the County of Chatham has tentatively adopted a 2026 millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 1.65 percent.
All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings on this tax increase to be held at the Jessie Collier DeLoach Board Room of the Whitney Administrative Complex, 2 Laura Avenue, Savannah, Georgia on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 17.331 mills, an increase of 0.282 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 17.049 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $250,000 is approximately $27.64 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $250,000 is approximately $28.20.
