    Savannah State Update:

    Key takeaways
    • AACSB recognized globally as top business education standard; fewer than six percent of business schools worldwide hold it.
    • Accreditation followed comprehensive peer review assessing strategic management, faculty qualifications, research, curriculum, student learning, and business engagement.
    • Dr. Marcus Cox said reaffirmation reflects faculty, staff, students, alumni, and partners, ensuring continuous improvement and preparation of ethical, innovative leaders.
    • College of Business Administration offers undergraduate and graduate programs, experiential learning, internships, and fully online Bachelor's of Business Administration and Master's of Business Administration.
    • Savannah State University, Georgia's first public HBCU, is the only public HBCU in Georgia accredited by AACSB, reinforcing degree value.

Savannah State University (SSU) is proud to announce that its College of Business Administration has successfully extended its accreditation by AACSB International (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), reaffirming its commitment to delivering a world-class business education.

AACSB accreditation is recognized globally as the highest standard of excellence in business education. Fewer than six percent of business schools worldwide have earned this distinction, placing Savannah State among an elite group of institutions dedicated to academic excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

The accreditation extension follows a comprehensive peer-review process that evaluates strategic management, faculty qualifications, research, curriculum, student learning, and engagement with the business community. Maintaining AACSB accreditation reflects the College of Business Administration’s continued commitment to preparing graduates who are equipped to lead in an increasingly dynamic global economy.

“This reaffirmation of AACSB accreditation reflects the exceptional work of our faculty, staff, students, alumni, and business partners,” said Dr. Marcus Cox, provost and vice president for academic affairs. “It demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement and ensures that our students receive a business education that meets the highest international standards while preparing them to become ethical, innovative, and impactful leaders.”

AACSB currently accredits more than 1,000 institutions in more than 70 countries and territories. Accredited schools demonstrate excellence in teaching, research, curriculum development, learner success, and strategic innovation.

The Savannah State University College of Business Administration offers undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare students for careers in business, entrepreneurship, public service, and industry leadership. Through experiential learning, internships, faculty mentorship, and partnerships with regional and national employers, students gain the knowledge and practical experience needed to succeed in today’s competitive workforce.

“As Georgia’s first public historically Black college and university, Savannah State University is committed to providing transformational educational experiences that prepare students for lifelong success,” said Dr. Jermaine Whirl, president of Savannah State University. “The extension of AACSB accreditation reflects our unwavering dedication to academic excellence and reinforces the value of an SSU business degree for our students, alumni, and the employers they serve.”

For prospective students, alumni, and employers, the continued AACSB accreditation affirms that a Savannah State University business education meets internationally recognized standards of quality and prepares graduates to excel in today’s global business environment.

SSU’s College of Business Administration offers a fully online Bachelor’s of Business Administration and Master’s of Business Administration. Additionally, the College offers concentrations in accounting, computer information systems with a logistics and supply chain management focus, management, and marketing. Savannah State also has the distinction of being the only public HBCU in Georgia accredited by AACSB.
