City of Savannah: Official News, Events & Community Updates

City of Savannah Names Taffanye Young Assistant City Manager

SAVANNAH – Following the adoption of Savannah GPS Strategic Plan, the City of Savannah has solidified a key leadership role naming Taffanye Young Assistant City Manager.

Young will play a critical role in implementing and measuring Savannah GPS, supporting City Council-related priorities, community relations and external partnerships, and promoting a high-performing culture of accountability and public service excellence. She will also support the City Manager in directing and coordinating the activities and operations of the government.

“As we work to implement the goals of Savannah GPS, Taffanye will guide staff in carrying out the strategies and objectives of our strategic plan,” City Manager Jay Melder said. “Taffanye is an invaluable, dedicated public servant who for over 30 years has helped enhance the quality of City services.”

Since 2012, Young has served as the City’s Chief Community Services, playing a vital role on the executive leadership team and overseeing a number of vital departments including Housing and Neighborhood Services, Human Services, Recreation and Leisure Services, Cultural Resources, and the Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement.

During her 30 years of dedicated public service, Young forged stronger public-private partnerships, led the effort to expand affordable housing, enhanced recreational offerings, implemented programs that connect families to critical services, and expanded the City’s support for the unhoused population.
