Dr. Jonathan Lambright

Savannah State University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jonathan Lambright as the Associate Vice President for Institutional Research, Planning and Assessment. A distinguished member of the SSU faculty and administration for more than two decades, Dr. Lambright brings a wealth of academic leadership, research experience, and strategic planning expertise to the role.

Dr. Lambright is a tenured professor in the Department of Engineering Technology and has held numerous leadership positions at the university, including Dean of the College of Sciences and Technology from 2012 to 2017, Interim Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Chair of the Department of Engineering Technology and Mathematics. In each role, he has demonstrated a deep commitment to data-informed decision-making, institutional effectiveness, and student-centered outcomes.

โ€œDr. Lambrightโ€™s leadership has consistently advanced the academic and operational excellence of Savannah State,โ€ said President Jermaine Whirl. โ€œHis extensive background in engineering, research, and strategic planning will strengthen our institutional capacity and help drive continuous improvement across all areas of the university.โ€

Dr. Lambright began his engineering career with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University, followed by an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering focused on Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech, where he specialized in design methodology and manufacturing automation.

Prior to joining SSU, Dr. Lambright worked with the Department of Defense, Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems Company, and consulted with Fortune 500 companies in the areas of enterprise systems and manufacturing technologies. A graduate of the University System of Georgiaโ€™s Executive Leadership Institute, he has also been actively involved in initiatives to increase minority participation in STEM disciplines.

Savannah State University congratulates Dr. Lambright on his new role and looks forward to his continued leadership in advancing the universityโ€™s mission of academic excellence, student success, and community impact.
