Jerel Tremain Hagins fell asleep in death on Thursday, March 27, at
St. Luke’s Hospital in Stroudsburg, PA, with his fiancée, Kim, by his side.
He was born on February 10, 1978, in Augusta, Georgia, to Robert and Ezzie
Hagins as the third of four boys who would bless their family.
Jerel is survived by his loving parents, Robert and Ezzie Sammiel Hagins,
and his three brothers: Alex Lamar Hagins, Tony Terrill Hagins, and Jammie
Hagins. Growing up as energetic boys in the country, they shared a childhood
full of adventure. Jerel inherited a deep love for animals from his mother and
could often be found playing with his favorite cats and dogs. If there was a
tree, they climbed it; if there was a rope, they knotted it; if there was a puddle,
they jumped in it; and if there was a go-kart, they raced it until it fell apart!
Jerel was often the one caught holding the evidence of some mischief. He
loved taking things apart—though, over time, he learned how to put them
back together. He also enjoyed volleyball and found comfort in listening to
Kingdom songs as he drifted off to sleep. Every day was an adventure for
Jerel.
From infancy, Jerel and his brothers were taught about their Heavenly Father,
Jehovah, and the gift of His Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Even as he later
faced many health challenges, he held onto that early spiritual training. He
received his secular education in the Screven County public school system
and later worked various jobs in Screven and Bulloch County before moving
to the Atlanta area. Always seeking new experiences, Jerel and his fiancée,
Kim Daransky, eventually moved to Elmira, NY, and later settled in
Saylorsburg, PA.
Jerel leaves behind his beloved children: Jayshon Bradshaw (Augusta, GA),
Isaiyah (Statesboro, GA), and Jeriyah Tranae Denise, Shilo Gabrielle, and
Kingston Josiah (Sylvania, GA). His fiancée, Kim Daransky of Lexington,
NC, who lovingly cared for him as his health declined after a stroke, will
deeply miss him. His nephews—Terrill, Quezmeon, Kaleb, and Ki’mor—will
always remember their Uncle Jerel with love. His Uncle Willie (Estelle)
Sammiel, who cherished Jerel as his favorite nephew, and his uncle Solomom
Sammiel (Homestead, FL) will feel this loss deeply. His aunts—Daisy
(Robert) Davis, Mary Ella Kemp, Mary Nelson, Alzada Wilson, Lurine Milton
(Sylvania, GA), Earline Bland (Newington, GA), and Gail Hicks (Warner
Robbins, GA) —mourn his passing.
