    Four School of Liberal Studies at Savannah High students will be advancing to a state championship competition after showing off their prowess at welding in a recent regional contest.  The 2025 AGC Georgia Skills Challenge is a statewide workforce development initiative organized by the Associated General Contractors of Georgia (AGC Georgia). It consists of eight regional competitions held from October 22 to November 20, 2025, across cities like Gainesville, Marietta, Perry, Rome, Columbus, Statesboro, Moultrie, and Augusta.

    Savannah High Student Hendryka Williams is a State Qualifier after finishing in 3rd place in the Southeast Region Individual Welding competition.

    Three more Savannah High students will advance their Welding Fabrication Team to State after finishing in First Place in the Southeast Region. Those students are Isaac Mendez, Zion Worthen, and Markus Pinckney.

    The Associated General Contractors of Georgia Skills Challenge series is designed to give high school students hands-on experience in construction trades, as well as to connect students with industry professionals and employers to help promote careers in construction.

    The SkillsUSA Georgia State Leadership and Skills Conference will take place in February at the Georgia World Congress Center. Over 2,000 students from more than one hundred school statewide participate. Congratulations to these talented students and best of luck at the upcoming state competition!!
