JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- Savannah State swept a double-header from Trinity College of Jacksonville on Saturday with scores of 7-3 and 13-2.

SSU scored twice in the top of the second inning in the first game with Madison Starling-Martin and Kaitlyn Williams crossing home plate.

The Eagles scored one in the bottom of the inning but Savannah State went ahead 4-1 with two more runs in the top of the third with Williams hitting a two-run single.

Trinity added another run in the third and another in the fourth to cut their deficit to 4-3 but the Lady Tigers put the game away in the sixth with a two-run home run by Ansley Hudson and a RBI single by Ambria Guye.

Hudson finished the game going 4-for-4 at the plate with two hits and two RBI while Williams drove in two runs and Milani Dunning scoring twice. Starling-Martin added two hits.

Ariana Battle was the winning pitcher and Aaliyah Martin got the save. Battle pitched three innings and struck out three while giving up three runs and Martin pitched four innings and struck our four while giving up one run.

In the second game, SSU scored 13 runs off nine hits while riding the arm of Donnea Allen who struck out 12 batters while giving up just one hit.

RBI doubles by Carissa Ball and Battle helped Savannah State jump out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning but Trinity scored twice in the second to cut into the SSU lead.

The Eagles would not score again while Savannah State would add a run in the fourth with a RBI single by Dunning and seven more in the sixth which ended with Jayla Alexander hitting a two-run home run.

Battle ended the game going 2-for-3 with two runs. Hudson had two hits and scored twice, Alexander scored twice and drove in two runs while Ball and Dunning scored twice.

Savannah State, who has won six in a row, improves to 8-2 overall and will travel to Flagler on February 25 for a double-header.
