Global Black Voices: News from around the World

Key takeaways
  • A deep friendship between Luciano and Aaron Splendid predates their success and remains steadfast.
  • Original rhythm by Jermaine Gordon (also Star Social) was lost during post-production, jeopardizing the project.
  • Producer Lamar Thompson of Audiotraxx Productions rebuilt the rhythm, preserving the original composition's essence.
  • Released on So Splendid Records, distributed by Maria Jackson 27, reaffirming Luciano's legacy and elevating Aaron Splendid.

New Single Bridges Generations of Conscious Reggae

Kingston, Jamaica –  Legendary reggae singer Luciano and rising roots artist Aaron Splendid have released a heartfelt collaboration titled “Friends Forever,” now available on all major streaming platforms. More than just a musical union, the track pays tribute to a brotherhood that spans decades.

A Bond Beyond the Spotlight

The roots of “Friends Forever” go deeper than the studio. Luciano, internationally celebrated for his spiritual anthems and decades of contribution to reggae music, shares a personal connection with Aaron Splendid that predates his rise to fame.

The two artists have known each other since their youth, and despite Luciano’s global career and status as one of Jamaica’s most revered voices in conscious reggae, the friendship has remained steadfast.

The Making of “Friends Forever”

Behind the song lies a story of perseverance and dedication to artistry. The original rhythm for “Friends Forever” was crafted by Jermaine Gordon—also known as Star Social—a respected producer and artist in his own right. However, during the post-production phase, the original files for the rhythm were lost.

Rather than abandon the project, Aaron Splendid turned to Lamar Thompson of Audiotraxx Productions, who successfully rebuilt the rhythm from the ground up while maintaining the essence of the original composition. The result is a seamless blend of classic reggae structure with modern sonic warmth.

Independent Roots, Global Reach

Released under So Splendid Records, Aaron Splendid’s independent label, the single was distributed by Maria Jackson 27, ensuring accessibility across all digital music platforms worldwide.

This release marks a significant moment for both artists: for Luciano, it’s a reaffirmation of his legacy built on spiritual messages and collaborative generosity; for Aaron Splendid, it’s a bold step forward that introduces his name to an even broader audience while honouring his roots.

“Friends Forever” is a rare gem in today’s music landscape—a track that honors history, friendship, and the timeless power of reggae.

Now streaming everywhere.
