The Summer Bonanza Program received a generous $1,500 donation from The Savannah (GA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated on April 27, 2026. As a longstanding partner dedicated to community service, Summer Bonanza—which is sponsored in part by Chatham County—is incredibly grateful for the continued support provided by The Links.

    Key takeaways
    • The Links, Incorporated provides educational workshops, book donations, and serves as mentors for the annual Mentor for a Day event.
    • Media Institute collaboration delivered STEM/STREAM journalism and storytelling training, teaching youth to create professional storyboards using mobile apps, photography, and essays.
    • Summer Bonanza was founded in 1991 by Dr. Priscilla D. Thomas and serves Chatham County youth ages 7 to 14, offering volunteer opportunities.

The contributions to Summer Bonanza from The Links over the years have been multifaceted. Their involvement ranges from providing educational workshops on character building and civic engagement to donating books for the summer program. Additionally, they consistently serve as mentors for Summer Bonanza’s annual “Mentor for a Day” event.

“I would also like to highlight a particularly impactful collaboration coordinated by The Links through the Media Institute. During this program, our youth participants received specialized STEM/STREAM-focused training in journalism and storytelling. Students learned to use mobile applications to create professional storyboards by integrating their own photography and essays,” Summer Bonanza Director Angela Dorsey said. “Our participants thoroughly enjoyed these workshops, and we look forward to continuing our work with The Links every summer.”

Summer Bonanza is a youth mentoring program founded in 1991 by Retired Chatham County Commissioner, Dr. Priscilla D. Thomas. The program is available to Chatham County youth, ages 7-14. Community volunteers are also encouraged to assist and to serve as mentors. Youth ages 15 and above, who have been in the program and actively involved for at least two years, can serve as junior volunteers. Visit www.summerbonanza.com to learn more.
