    • Apple adds products to the obsolete list seven years after distribution; rumors point to a new design and a foldable iPhone this fall.

As rumors swirl about a new 20th-anniversary iPhone launching in 2027, the iPhone that celebrated its 10th anniversary is now officially obsolete.

The iPhone X launched in 2007 and brought with it a radical new design, removing the Home button for the first time. Apple stopped selling the device in 2008, although there were still some units available at specific retailers.

Apple also gave the iPhone X its first OLED display and brought Face ID to the world. It ushered in a new design language not just for the iPhone, but for smartphones as a whole. Phone in 2026 still largely look the same as the iPhone X.

Now, the iPhone X has been added to Apple’s obsolete products list, according to a MacRumors report which cites an updated support document on the company’s website. That means that the iPhone X is no longer eligible for repairs or other hardware service at Apple Stores or Apple Authorized Service Providers.

Apple adds products to the obsolete list seven years after it stopped distributing them.

Rumors continue to suggest that the 2026 iPhone will again feature a new design for the lineup, but it’s still unclear whether that will be the case. Much sooner than that, Apple is expected to announce its first foldable iPhone this fall.
