Savannah Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) Update:

 Budget Amendment for Salary Supplements Approved

On January 15, 2026, Governor Brian Kemp announced a one-time $2,000 salary supplement (bonus) for all state-funded Pre-K-12 educators, administrators, and support staff, as part of the FY 2026 budget. The Board approved a budget amendment to provide the supplement to all employees of the District, including positions that are not state funded. A supplement will also be provided for part-time staff and staff with temporary employment agreements at a commensurate amount.

 CCRPI Report

At the regular meeting of the board, the board heard a report on the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI). SCCPSS achieved gains over last year in elementary grades Content Mastery, middle grades Readiness, and high school Readiness. April is National School Library Month.

The Board proclaimed the month of April as National School Library Month to recognize Library Media Technology Specialists who actively encourage students to read to expand their abilities, interests, and curiosity in the world they live in and beyond. Library Media Technology Specialists are considered an integral part of the educational process that enables student achievement and success in school

SY 26-27 Bell Schedule Amendments Approved

The Board approved bell time modifications to accommodate school movement due to construction projects to begin in the 2026-2027 school year. Bell-time adjustments will support transportation needs and route updates.

Playground Equipment Approved

Heard, Brock, Gadsden, Marshpoint and Southwest schools will receive new playground equipment thanks to contract approvals at the April board meeting.  The equipment will replace aging infrastructure and ensure safe, age-appropriate outdoor play areas for students. The contract was awarded to PlayPower LT Farmington, Inc., c/o Playworx Playsets, LLC.

Board Policy IFBG: Internet Acceptable Use (Social Media Policy SB351)

District Administration has reviewed Board Policy IFBG along with the supporting regulation. There are no changes recommended for Board Policy. The Administrative Regulation has been updated for alignment with SB 351 that requires a Social Media Policy wherein Districts may choose to include the social media policy as a subset of the Acceptable Use Policy. Policy IFBG – Internet Acceptable Use has been updated.
