City of Savannah to Celebrate Installment of Sixth New Splash Pad
ย
SAVANNAH โ The City of Savannahโs Recreation and Leisure Services Department will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, July 9 at 10 a.m. to celebrate the opening of a new splash pad built under the Recreation Re-Imagined initiative. ย
Since 2021, the City has opened six new splashpads and renovated or replaced six splash pads expanding the Recreation and Leisure Services Departmentโs aquatic offerings to 16 including the four pools managed by the City. Under Recreation Re-Imaginedโs major investment in public aquatic spaces the City aimed to elevate the quality of recreational facilities and expand access to safe, inclusive, and engaging amenities for all residents. ย
Splash pads are interactive aquatic play areas featuring water jets, sprays, and fountains. They are designed with zero-depth water safety, full ADA accessibility, and automated systems offering a unique experience for families and kids of all capabilities and ages to enjoy.ย
The Montgomery Cross Rd. splash pad was built at a cost of $110,000, a portion of more than $490,000 invested in Aldermanic District 5 and more than $4 million invested citywide to upgrade or build recreation infrastructure in the last four years. ย
As part of the Cityโs commitment to equitable recreation access, all splash pads are open seven days a week, operating form 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and available for use from March through October. ย
City leaders and staff will be on site to officially open the new splashpad and celebrate the citywide improvements. The event is free and open to the public. All residents are invited to attend and join the celebration. ย
