City of Savannah: Official News, Events & Community Updates

City, Partners to Hold Full-Scale Emergency Exercise May 29

SAVANNAH – The City of Savannah, in coordination with Kraton Corporation, LLC and multiple partner agencies in the area, will conduct a full-scale emergency exercise on Thursday, May 29, beginning at 9 a.m.

Residents and visitors should note they will see increased activity in certain areas of the city with the deployment of emergency personnel and equipment. Exercise-related activity may begin earlier than 9 a.m.

The exercise will largely be staged at Kraton Corporation’s industrial manufacturing plant on Lathrop Ave. Additional simulated activities will take place at the Savannah Civic Center and various area hospitals.

The full-scale emergency drill is part of the City of Savannah’s ongoing commitment to preparedness and public safety. City departments participating include Emergency Preparedness, Savannah Fire Department, Savannah Police Department, Transportation Services, Innovation and Technology, and the Office of Communications.

The City will work with representatives from the American Red Cross, Chatham County 911, Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA), Chatham Emergency Services, Georgia Southern University, Memorial Health University Medical Center, and St. Joseph-Chandler Hospitals. Sentinel Crisis Solutions is the vendor leading the simulated event.

Additional updates will be shared via RAVE Alerts and the City’s official social media channels as the date approaches.
