Chatham Area Transit (CAT) Update:
- Savannah Belles Ferry suspends service at approximately 9:30 p.m. for the July 4 fireworks, then resumes and extends service until 10:30 p.m.
- Paratransit riders may still make reservations on July 3 despite the holiday schedule.
- Customer service is available from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. at (912) 233-5767; administrative offices closed July 3, reopen July 6.
7/2/2026 – Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT) will operate on a holiday schedule on Friday, July 3, 2026, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Although Independence Day falls on Saturday, July 4, CAT will observe the holiday on Friday, July 3. CAT will resume its regular Saturday service schedule on Saturday, July 4.
The holiday schedule will apply to all fixed-route buses and CAT Mobility will operate until 10 p.m. to mirror the fixed-route schedule. Please note that this will affect the frequency and timing of all service trips.
Paratransit riders can still make reservations on July 3.
The DOT will run from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and CAT Connect will run on its regular scheduled hours.
The Savannah Belles Ferry will temporarily suspend service during the July 4 fireworks show, beginning at approximately 9:30 p.m. Ferry service will resume immediately after the fireworks conclude. To accommodate increased ridership following the event, the ferry will extend service until 10:30 p.m., one-half hour later than its regularly scheduled 10 p.m. end of service.
