Vanessa Countryman reports that a mix ofย smoke and dust is blanketing partsย of Georgia this week, asย wildfire smokeย in Canada and a wave of Saharan dust converge in the atmosphereย over the southeastern U.S. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agencyโ€™s AirNow forecast placed much of Georgia, including parts of South Georgia, under a โ€œmoderateโ€ air quality index for Thursday, June 5.
