    Key takeaways
    • The Memorial Drive Greenway will span from a historic cemetery to the Downtown Connector.
    • An open house hosted by Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation and the design team will present updates and gather public feedback.
    • The greenway will be divided into six themed segments: Celebrate, Move, Explore, Gather, Play, and Reflect.
    • The Move segment, first to break ground, includes a skatepark by New Line Skateparks, a roller plaza, and a pump track.

A final public open house for the Memorial Drive Greenway project is set for June 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Oakland Cemetery Visitor Center.

The linear park, which will stretch from the historic cemetery to the Downtown Connector, has been floating around for more than 50 years, but is now poised to break ground this fall.

The greenway will be broken into six block segments, located between existing roadways, including Martin Street, Connally Street, Moore Street, Hill Street, Fort Street, and Grant Street.

Each segment currently has a theme: Celebrate, Move, Explore, Gather, Play, and Reflect. The first segment to break ground next year will be the Move segment, which will include a skatepark designed by Canadian firm New Line Skateparks, a roller skating plaza, and an all-wheel pump track.

The June 23 open house – hosted by the Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation, the design team, and other consultants – will offer the latest updates on the project and offer the public an opportunity to share their thoughts.
