Savannah Chatham County Public School System (SCCPS) Update:
- Savannah Arts Academy took a 2-0 halftime lead and shut out Pierce County 2-0 to secure the title.
- It was the third meeting this season between the teams and Savannah Arts Academy won all three matchups.
- Savannah Arts Academy won 13 of its final 14 games to reach the championship game.
- Head Coach Ben Parker guided wins over defending champion Drew Charter and top-seeded Columbus.
- The Panthers finished the season with a 17-6 record.
The Savannah Arts Academy Boys’ Soccer team won the GHSA 2A State Championship Wednesday evening in a game played at St. Pius X High School in Atlanta. It is the first state championship in program history and comes after a 4-5 start to the season
Savannah Arts Academy took a 2-0 lead into halftime that they never relinquished – shutting out Pierce County 2-0 to take the title. Wednesday night’s game was the third time the two teams met this season and the third win for Savannah Arts.
In order to get to the Championship Game, SAA won 13 of their final 14 games. Head Coach Ben Parker saw his team defeat defending state champion Drew Charter in the quarterfinals and Number One Seed Columbus in the semifinals. The Panthers finished the season with a 17-6 record. Congratulations to all!
