    • The Links, Incorporated comprises more than 17,000 professional women across 299 chapters in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Bahamas, and the United Kingdom.
    • Savannah Chapter was chartered on November 3, 1956, and was sponsored by the Charleston (SC) Chapter.
    • Endowed scholarship supports full-time sophomores and above with 3.0+ GPA, financial need, residency in Chatham County (GA) or Jasper County (SC), leadership and service.
    • Denise M. Cooper and Adrian Scott praised the chapter's commitment to student empowerment, scholarship, and lowering financial barriers to graduation at SSU.

Savannah State University (SSU) has received a $5,000 gift from the Savannah (GA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated to bolster an existing endowed scholarship established by the organization in 2003.

The local chapter is a branch of an international, non-profit volunteer service organization dedicated to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.

“Our Chapter is honored to invest in the future of students. This gift reflects our unwavering commitment to scholarship, leadership, and creating a lasting legacy at the University. We are proud to support opportunities that empower students and strengthen the future of our community for generations to come,” said Denise M. Cooper, Esq., Savannah (GA) Chapter – President (2022-2026).

The Links, Incorporated is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations, boasting a membership of more than 17,000 professional women of African descent across 299 chapters in 41 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, and the United Kingdom.

The Savannah Chapter has a long history in coastal Georgia, having been chartered on November 3, 1956, and sponsored by the Charleston (SC) Chapter.

“We are immensely grateful for the ongoing support and unwavering commitment to student success that the Savannah Chapter of The Links, Inc. has demonstrated over the decades,” said Adrian Scott, SSU Vice President for University Advancement. “Through their continued generosity, they are truly helping to enrich the academic journey of our students and lower financial barriers as they progress toward graduation.”

Established more than 20 years ago, the endowed scholarship provides critical financial assistance to eligible full-time SSU students. To qualify for the annual award, recipients must be a sophomore or above, maintain a 3.0 or higher grade point average, and demonstrate financial need. Additionally, applicants must be residents of Chatham County, Georgia, or Jasper County, South Carolina, and possess a strong record of leadership, good character, and community service.
