(Chatham Countv, GA)- Chatham County District Attorney Shalena Cook Jones has invited community leaders, government officials, business leaders, healthcare providers, public safety professionals, and social service workers to participate in a roundtable discussion on the
development of the Savannah-Chatham H.O.P.E. City Project (“HOPE City”).

    Key takeaways
    • Forward-looking, justice-centered approach addressing homelessness and supporting under-housed, disadvantaged, and justice-impacted community members.
    • Support and augment homeless service agencies with ample bed space and on-site care for mental health, medical, and substance abuse needs.
    • Includes educational and employability programs; roundtable will review vision, coordinate stakeholders, identify service gaps, and explore partnerships.

The acronym H.O.P.E. stands for Helping Others Pursue Excellence. The project is designed to be a forward-looking, justice-centered approach to addressing the issue of homelessness, and supporting other under-housed, disadvantaged, and justice-impacted segments of our
    community.

The HOPE City Project is designed to support and augment the homeless service agencies currently operating in the Savannah-Chatham area, with ample bed space and capacity to serve those who may have mental health, medical, and substance abuse needs while on-site. The plan also includes educational, employability options, and services for the benefit of the residents
    and the surrounding community alike.

Attendees at this roundtable will review the vision for the project, discuss stakeholder involvement, and discuss the service coordination between the government agencies that will anchor the project. The summit will provide an opportunity for some of the region’s most respected voices to share ideas, identify service gaps, and explore partnerships that can
    strengthen our community’s response.
